  • First Language: Russian
  • Age: 15
  • Studying:  Two-year I/GCSE Course

Why have you come to the UK to study?

To improve my English and to learn about British culture. I was also keen to come to an international school to make friends with students from around the world, who may also become great contacts in my future career.

Have you enjoyed your time at Sherborne International so far?

Yes I’ve enjoyed it very much. I am now in my third and final year here, having started in year 9 and gone on to do the two-year I/GCSE.

I have made lots of new friends here and built great relationships with the teaching staff.

In what areas has Sherborne International helped you improve?

My written and spoken English has improved lots. My social and communication skills have also really developed and I have become far more confident. The very small class sizes really help you to learn far more quickly as teachers can really get to know you and provide additional help and support where needed.

I have also improved my sporting skills, my favourite being football. But I have also tried some new sports that I have really enjoyed, including cricket and hockey.

What do you like most about being in England?

I really love the cities, especially London. But it has been perfect studying in Sherborne as there are fewer distractions so I’ve been able to really focus on my studies.

Where would you like to go next?

I would like to go to the Royal Russell school in London. I did online research and then did a tour. I was very impressed by the academic and boarding facilities.

What career would you like when you finish education?

I would either like to run my own business or work for a prestigious sports company or organisation, such as FIFA.

“It hasn’t just been a school, but also my home. I’m so grateful to my parents for sending me here, they gave me the opportunity to meet new friends, become a better person, learn English, and grow up in a good community.
Every year I have made a lot of new friends, from more countries than I can count, all of who I hope to keep in contact and stay close, we’re like one huge international family. They’ve helped me develop as a person and made my life at school as fun as it could be, without them, it just wouldn’t be the same. I know for sure, that I have made friends for life”.
