Basketball vs Sherborne School – Spring 2020
Report on Sherborne International Basketball match against Sherborne School on Thursday 13 February 2020
81 – 22 (Sherborne School victory)
Man of the Match
Michael for his enthusiasm and hard work on the court.
This was the first game of the year against a well-established Sherborne School side.
Sherborne International had been working hard in training to improve their overall awareness on the court. Moreover, training sessions were focused on improving players passing skills and how to use a ‘fast break’ in a game.
Before the match, the boys had time for a thorough warm up and go through a couple of drills before the match started.
Sherborne International started well with the defence holding well and Sherborne School not able to break through and score baskets.
Sherborne International looked threatening going forward but were unable to score which allowed Sherborne School to score baskets freely in the first and second quarter. The score at half time was 43-13 with Mr. Tomlinson having lots to talk about and changes to make.
After a quick drink and a talk with the boys it was time for the second half. The third quarter was our best performance with Johnson and Jerry scoring outrageous three point shots which aggravated Sherborne School. They tried to hit back with them also trying to score three pointers but failing to do so.
This carried on into the fourth quarter but Sherborne School had scored too many points for Sherborne International to get back into the game.
The score ended 81-22 to Sherborne School but the boys of Sherborne International had learnt so much from the experience.
- Jerry: 12 points
- Johnson: 6 points
- Emil: 2 points
- Michael: 2 points
