Location
Surrounded by English countryside, we enjoy a beautiful environment with plenty of fresh air, away from large urban populations.
However, larger cities are easy to reach. London is around two hours away by train or car and other beautiful, historic cities like Bath and Exeter are around an hour away.
There is easy access to Heathrow, Gatwick and Bristol airports and an excellent direct train service to London Waterloo.
Historic town
Sherborne has a number of famous historic buildings including the beautiful Abbey, founded in the year 705, where some of our students perform in concerts.
Sherborne Castle was built in the 16th century and was so adored by Sir Walter Raleigh that he built an Elizabethan mansion in the grounds in 1594.
The town is famous for its schools, including Sherborne School, founded in 1550, that still uses the monastic buildings attached to the Abbey. The town also boasts Sherborne Girls and Sherborne Preparatory School.
The town has an abundance of historic interest with many 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th century houses and medieval buildings. These include The Almshouse of St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist and the 16th century Conduit, which was originally used by monks to do their washing.
