Pastoral Lead, full-time for the initial fixed term period 1 March to 31 August 2022

Working as part of the Short Course Delivery Team, the Pastoral Lead will play a crucial role in the organisation and set up of the summer course and will have responsibility to ensure the needs and welfare requirements of students and pastoral staff who attend it, are met. The Pastoral lead will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and will be a key player in ensuring legal and regulatory compliance requirements are met.

This role will suit someone who has excellent attention to detail, will take ownership of issues, is a confident public speaker, has excellent interpersonal skills and works well with others.

Summer Course Teachers (all core curriculum subjects)

Sherborne Summer Courses comprise four courses:

  • Intensive English plus Subjects
  • Pre IGCSE/GCSE
  • Pre A Level/IB Diploma
  • IGCSE/GCSE Mid-Course Booster

EFL teachers should be minimum CELTA/Cert TESOL qualified with two years of relevant experience.

Subject teachers should have QTS.

Subject teachers on the academic preparation courses should also have an up-to-date knowledge of the target exam, the syllabus and the study habits and practical skills students need for success.

To work closely with the Academic Manager to support him in his duties to maintain the high standard of educational provision offered to students attending the summer course and to help with the effective management of teaching staff.

The Senior Tutor is the Head of House and responsible to the Pastoral Lead; lives in a boarding house with the students, and is responsible for their safety, supervision and general welfare; taking regular attendance and holding regular house meetings.
